Urszula Janiszewska was the First Prize Winner in the Professional (No age limit) category at the 2025 Season 1 Music Talent Award.
Can you introduce yourself and share how you got into music?
Music has always been an important part of my life. When I was 10 years old I started learning to play the piano and violin. In the years 2003-2008 I studied music theory at the Academy of Music in Wrocław (Poland).
From an early age I liked to improvise and create, so over time I started writing my own compositions.
Could you tell us more about your award-winning work? For instance, how did you prepare it, bring it to life, or any interesting stories behind the scenes?
In 2023 I wrote “Beautiful Strings” for violin solo, piano and Strings.
Since I became interested in Irish music it has always been in my heart.
I wanted to create a piece that would convey deep emotions but also use Irish ornaments. The solo violin part contains such ornaments, and its flowing melody harmonizes perfectly with entire ensemble. The piano part closely corresponds to the violin part, but at the end, there is a piano solo that evokes many emotions.
The premiere of the piece took place in 2024 during the New Year’s Concert in Nysa. The composition has already been awarded many times in competitions.
On May 7, 2024, I performed a composition as part of the International Festival Talents “Gloria Artis” in Vienna. It was a prize for winning the first place in the Gloria Artis competition with the Baton among the Strings ensemble.
The conductor who prepared this piece and performed it with ensemble was Małgorzata Sławińska-Pilarz. In all the concerts I accompanied the orchestra at the piano.
On July 14, 2024, I performed this piece while playing the violin during a concert in my city Oława as part of the Summer Music Scene competition.
In September, it was announced that I won the competition and received an award from the mayor of Oława.

What do you believe defines a great composer, and how do you incorporate your unique style into your music?
My unique style is the result of my musical experiences.
I am interested in romantic music, film and ethnic music.
I think my style reflects the emotions I have inside me. Each of my compositions is a musical story flowing from the depths of the heart.
Would you like to share your experience participating in our competition and anyone you'd like to thank (such as mentors, supporters or other team members)?
I am honored that “Beautiful Strings” was appreciated in the Music Talent Award competition. I am delighted to have received an award for my unique compositional style.
